An Evaluation of the Integration of m-Learning in TRAC+ (Total Reading Approach in Cambodia Plus) Project to Enhance the Literacy of Early Grade Students in Cambodia

Abstract

Digital Learning for Development (DL4D) and All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR-GCD) are collaborating on an Evaluation of the Integration of m-Learning in the Total Reading Approach for Children Plus (TRAC+) Project, a system of interventions to improve early grade literacy in Cambodia including new teaching and learning materials, a mobile learning application, assessment protocols for benchmarking reading, literacy coaching for teachers, peer tutoring and parental engagement. TRAC+ is currently being implemented in 140 public primary schools in 5 provinces in Cambodia.

The main research question to be addressed is: “How and to what extent does the integration of m-Learning in TRAC+ enhance the literacy of early grade students?”

The research will contribute to the body of knowledge on the effectiveness, sustainability and scalability of m-Learning integrated into TRAC+ in the Cambodian primary school context. Equity and efficiency issues should also be addressed. The target date of completion is September 2017.

This project is co-funded by All Children Reading – A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR-GCD).
